This two day conference focused on how the brain processes, responds to and creates art.  It was a collaborative
presentation including both scientists and artists.  The stated goal was to stimulate new questions and approaches to
understanding the converging fields of perceptual brain science and aesthetics.  A central theme was that artists have
foretold what neuroscientists are just now exploring and understanding.
It was hosted by the Walters Art Museum and
the American Visionary Art Museum for the Johns Hopkins University Brain Science Institute’s program The Science
of the Arts.

Following this, I created a three-evening program in collaboration with the University of Colorado Department of
Psychology and Neuroscience at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art called Your Brain on
Art.  These sessions
explored creativity, improvisation, visual perception and aesthetics.
